 · I've bought quite a number of John Abercrombie CDs since buying this one but this one alone led me to great classics like Timeless, November, While We're Young and the Kenny Wheeler CD, The Widow in the Window. I'm still searching for "Quartet" though, which according to this CD is where the great Metheny-esque song "Stray" comes from/5(9).

 · This recording of John Abercrombie's trio with a guest appearance by British saxophone giant and composer John Surman is, without question, a trademark ECM session. There's the spacious, pristine, icy production by label boss Manfred Eicher from his studio in Oslo.   1. The melding of the Abercrombie trio with John Surman is amzing. The music has the dark feeling of the coming winter, the aura of the north wind outside the door. It is smooth and warm, though, like the warmth indoors in November, with the bass clarinet and tenor sax of Surman playing off the guitar of Abercrombie and the bass of Johnson/5(9).
